What’s Gonna Happen?

At 6:30 pm the doors will open for a private tour of Alex’s new dungeon, complete with a sexy display of bound “prisoners” for your admiration. Afterwards, enjoy some social time on the terrace and grab a beer, soda or water at the open bar. Meet Alex, his partner Hank and their boy butch.

At 7:00 pm, Alex will stage a scripted reading from his newest erotic novel, Red Knight Rising. The book is a tale of rousing adventure and fierce BDSM love between two young English knights — Harry and Bruce — who are drawn together with King Richard the Lionheart to fight on one of the Crusades in the Middle Ages. Alex will narrate two scenes while three others will play the voices of the main characters.

You’ll be able purchase your very own specially autographed copy of Red Knight Rising — at a pre-release, reduced price — after the reading! (Be sure to bring cash.)

Hot Rodeo 2012 (the Palm Springs Gay Rodeo) is kicking off its big weekend with a Pool Party on Friday, May 4 from 1-6 pm at its host hotel, The Ivy Palm Resort and Spa (formerly the Ramada Palm Springs).

Two pools packed with hundreds of hunky, sweet rodeo guys is reason enough to attend, but they’re kicking things up a notch with a Fetish Fashion Show at 3 pm! Sexy models from the HomoRodeo.com Calendar (did you catch the DFA organizer in the mix?) will strut their stuff in Timoteo, Nasty Pig, X Gear and 665 fashions provided by Gear Leather & Fetish!

The event is free and features a cash bar. Let’s saddle up and welcome the guys to town!

April’s gathering attracted another sexy, friendly crowd, with plenty of new faces. More gear was on display (hooray!) and it was once again great opportunity to make new friends and enjoy being together as a community.

What really blew us away was that the majority of guys—nearly 70—showed up early in the evening to take our Intro to Rope Bondage Course. Instructor Steven Canale taught about different kinds of rope and bondage safety and then tied a basic box harness on our willing victim Chris Bates. Afterwards everyone had the chance to practice on their own partners. Tons of people did!

Special thanks to Steven and Chris for making the class a success, along with everyone who braved the weather to attend. Also thanks to David Gray, Damian Day and Dennis Thomas for taking such great photographs to document the evening. Finally, thanks to John McBain and Ken Blochowski for planning things, The Barracks for hosting us, and both The Barracks and Gear Leather & Fetish for sponsoring the drink tickets.

What’s Next?

What’s the next big thing? Well that depends on you! One of the great things about DFA is that because we’re so informal anyone can have the chance to be a leader. Right now we’re looking for someone to step up and organize something for early May. How about a movie night (The Avengers, anyone?) or a dinner or another skills-building class? Anything is possible!

John and Ken will provide marketing support and advice on planning. But they would like to actually attend the next event instead of run it!

What’s Gonna Happen?

Our second event will be a two-parter, and it’s a direct response to your survey requests over the last couple of months. You asked for more weekend events and the chance to learn more kinky skills, so that’s exactly what you’re going to get!

The night will open at 7:30 pm with a Rope Bondage 101 class taught by Steven Canale. Steven is a member of the Avatar and the Southern California Bondage Clubs and has learned from some of the most famous bondage experts in the world. He will be demonstrating basic ties and techniques on one of our favorite studs, plus allow time for your own hands-on practice as well.

Steven will bring enough of his own extra rope for five couples to join in, but if you’d like to insure that you can participate, bring your own fifty feet of rope and a partner! (Of course, you can always just observe too.) The class will last ninety minutes and will be held in The Barracks’ backroom space.

From 9-11 pm we’ll take over the rest of the bar for our Gear Up Party. The Barracks offers the same soda and draft beer specials on Fridays from 9 pm-2 am as they do at their famous Sunday afternoon Beer Busts, so it’s a great time to get together and hang out. We’ll even have a kinky door prize or two!

DFA events are about enjoying each other and our fetishes, so expect a casual, yet energetic social atmosphere filled with plenty of sexy, geared-up guys! More than anything, though, the night is about making friends and building community.Everyone’s welcome, whether you’re a hardcore player or a curious newcomer. Attend the class, the party, or both!

What Should I Wear?

Masculine, fetish-oriented attire of any sort is always encouraged at DFA events. After all, it’s part of the reason we exist! Nonetheless, we don’t have a particular dress code.

We always hear from guys who say that they’re afraid to attend our events because they don’t own any gear. You’re welcome too! Everybody owns something that makes them feel sexy, studly and confident! Wear it!

The only restrictions we have are the laws regarding public nudity. Bare asses must have a one inch strip up the crack.

Who’s Gonna Be There?

Over 120 guys attended our Launch Party, making it the biggest fetish event in Palm Springs since Leather Pride. There were men of all ages, looks and skill levels and they had a great time! We expect that there will be at least that many guys at this DFA event, but we need you to make that happen. Come show the Valley that you want and need an organization like DFA!

What Can I Do to Help?

Can you believe that 215 guys have subscribed to our web site’s email updates and 100 more have joined our Facebook Group? Nonetheless, there are still lots of folks who still don’t know about DFA! Tell your friends about us and invite them to attend on April 13. Don’t take it for granted that they already know! Then gear up, come out, smile and have fun!

It was a sexy and friendly crowd of men of all ages, in and out of gear, meeting and making friends and enjoying being out together as a community. It was clear that attendees were excited both about our vision and about what might be coming next!

Special thanks to all who stepped up to help put the night together, including Matt Sorrentino, Christopher Bates, Brian Bohler, Ted Guice, Paul Perrotta, and John McBain. Thanks as well to Papa Tony of FetishMenSanDiego who did our flogging demo and was busy all night! And another thank you to Hunters, which was super-helpful and provided us with drink coupons for everyone who showed.

Most of all, thanks to all of you who came out and demonstrated your support, especially those of you who visited from as far away as Riverside, San Diego and Orange County. You made it overwhelmingly known that we had a worthy idea and that you wanted to be a part of it, and for that we couldn’t be more grateful.

We’re currently tabulating the surveys that we distributed to solicit information about your interests and next-step ideas. If you’d like to add your own voice to the mix, you can pick up and return one at Gear. An online version has just been posted here as well! Our goal is to have our next activity planned by the end of the month.

What’s Gonna Happen?

Our Launch Party will be just that—a party! Expect a casual, social atmosphere filled with sexy, geared-up guys! Everyone’s welcome, whether you’re a hardcore player or a curious newcomer who wants to learn more about gear and kinky play.

Speaking of kinky play, we’ll have two demos. One will be a more formal flogging demo, but the other will be an experiential electrical one. We’ll actually wire up one of our organizers and set him loose in the crowd so that anybody who wants to can feel the sparks fly from his finger tips!

We’ll have survey cards around and ask you to fill them out so that we can learn more about what you’d like out of the group—stuff like when, where and how often you’d like to get together and what sort of things you’d like to do! We’ll also ask you to tell us about your skills and interests and give you the chance to offer help in organizing future activities.

More than anything, though, the night is about making friends and building community. We’ll keep talking at you to a minimum, because we’d much rather talk with you! Like all of our events, the DFA Launch Party is about enjoying each other, our fetishes and our gear!
